It's day 3 of Power Poppies new stamp release. This set is called Peonies. It is so detailed and pretty. When you see a Peony you know that spring has ushered in it's beauty. I took my time coloring this image. It brings back warm memories of my childhood farm. We had some under our cherry tree. I would pick them and bring them in to my mom. Little did I know she spent the rest of the day getting rid of the ants they carried. Just the smell brings back the memories of those wonderful days.
I wanted to go with a vintage feel for this card. I layered the designer paper and cut my Peonies out in a circle. I added just a little bling and a ribbon.
I colored my image with Y17, YG03, YG25, R14, R22, R25, R29.
This set is available right now as a digital download over at Power Poppy..just click HERE. Check out the Power Poppy blog for a few words from Marcella herself on her inspiration for this set: Power Poppy

ReplyDeleteI love the warm vintage feel you gave this! Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Dawn...almost the feel of water-colour on these beauties...wonderful colouring and I love the richness of the design...sounds like beautiful memories too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card! Your coloring is spectacular and I love the way you kept the matting a simple circle. It really shows off the flowers! We had peonies growing up too, and I did the same thing! Mom always made us put the vases in the living room so they were away from the kitchen! I still have a bush in my side yard now but don't bring them in often because of the ants.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Dawn! I love the whole design and your coloring is superb, as always! You've brought the flowers to life!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love to click for a close up and bring these beauties right into my living room. Your coloring is amazing. I can tell you have a fond familiarity with these flowers. I didn't know about the ants. Gorgeous card, Dawn!

ReplyDeleteVery beautiful...I like the bright happy colors you are using for your Power Poppy florals this week! It is always such a treat to visit you here and see what you are up to...I always leave inspired. I only have one Peony plant and I would love to plant some more...but I have heard that the ants take over so haven't been brave enough to try that! Hugs!
