North Carolina is awash with the colors of azaleas right now. They are so pretty. We are blessed to live in such a colorful climate in the spring. The earth comes alive.
Today I have a card for you from the newly released Azalea set from Power Poppy.
I chose to watercolor my azaleas with markers. I haven't water colored in a very long time. It was great to get out the paint brush. I use a cold pressed water color paper and it blends like a dream. I then cut them out using my Spellbinders circle dies and added some sponging with Tim Holtz's distress ink. I also finally got my sewing machine fixed and had to try it out on my card. This card has all the things I love..flowers, sewing and water coloring.
This past week my family traveled to Washington, D.C. My favorite places were the tour of the Capitol building and the Arlington Cemetery. Here are some pictures I took of both. The trees were so pretty this time of year. Everything in D.C. is free to tour. It is a must see for everyone.
Arlington Cemetery is so beautiful and serene. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guards was fascinating. What an honor to be able to see this.
We got a guided tour of the Capitol Building and saw where the President gives his State of the Union addresses. This building has so much history.
Lastly, I had a blessed Easter. I made my daughter and I an apron to where. We were a little homesick for our family but cooked up a storm and went to church. It was a gorgeous day.
Next week is release week at Power Poppy so stay tuned.
