Azaleas

Sigh....isn't this just fabulous.  I loved coloring this image.  There are so many possibilities.  The sentiments are my favorite part.  Azaleas always remind me of balmy ocean breezes and beach houses.  I am so ready for summer and this set gets me in the mood for long hot balmy days.  We have lots of azaleas in North Carolina. This 4" by 6" set was illustrated by hand with a whole lotta love by Marcella Hawley.

I loved coloring this image.  I colored it with Copics and distressed the edges.  I used many different colors to achieve the colors I wanted.

Check out what the rest of the Bloom Brigade has in store for you..

  4. WOW! I love the peachy pink color of your flowers. We had Azaleas in Alabama, but they are not hardy in zone 5 where I am. I think with the last couple winters we could possibly be considered zone 4. I will be surprised if my Butterfly bush comes back. :)

  16. Dawn, I love how you've used black to ground these gorgeous bright florals--it really grounds them and makes them pop!!! And the pink you use in paper to bring out the pinks in the azaleas is lovely. Such gorgeous coloring!!! I'm definitely not in this coloring league but hope to someday be able to do the Marcella Hawley floral stamps I'm blessed to own justice as well as a few more when possible. These will definitely be on my wish-list!!! :) Gorgeous card using some wonderful coloring artistry and beautiful elements to create a wonderful card anyone would be overjoyed to received. Stunning indeed!!! Blessings, Joanne Lowe

  22. Ohhhhh Dawn! Your creation is simply swoon-worthy. I do love how you've used the black, as Joanne pointed out. It grounds and sets off the image in such a knock-out punch kind of way. Your style of coloring is so cool - looks of like dabs of fruit juice painted on the petals. So unique and yummy!!
