Time Out Blog Candy

Beach Life
I am hoping that as the summer winds down you find some time to reflect back on all the great memories the days have provided.  For me it will be this next months visit back to my roots. I need some down time to regroup.  As I take a little break I wanted to share two cards that I recently created just for fun.  I love that kind of stamping the most.  This is an image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Sand Castle.

Beach Life.

The second card I created is my favorite.  I love this Beach Life set from Flourishes.  It takes you to a calm and peaceful place.  Away from life's hectic pressures and schedules.  I watercolored this  image on hot pressed watercolor paper with Stampin Up markers.  Is the coloring perfect...NO.. I wanted it that way.

I am taking a month long stamping break.  I need time to BREATHE and get my mojo back on track.  I will miss all of you.  I am going home to visit my dad in "primitive" land.  No  computer and no internet.  I need to create some new memories. :)

How would you like to win a $50 gift certificate to either one of the above companies. Flourishes or Mo's Digital Pencil. Just leave me a comment here on where your favorite "time out from life" place is and I will draw a winner on September 1st.  It can be as simple as your own back yard with a good book.  Enter as often as you like.
Have a beautiful August my friends..

I leave you with my favorite scripture.

I know the plans I have for you...
"...For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,
"Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..."

Jeremiah 29:11

  1. Both cards are beautiful but I love the serenity of the palm trees. My favorite place is in my own back yard out in the pool soaking up the sun. I always feel revitalized after getting some sun. It is also the plae where our friends come for pool volleyball and we have so much fun. Enjoy your vacation!

  2. Hi Dawn, your cards are fabulous. Love the second one and the colors you achieved. My favorite time out from life is at a movie theatre. I haven't been able to go for months. I love sitting in the middle of the theatre and getting lost inside the movie. Thank you for the scripture today. I needed to hear that. Thank you for your blessings on me today. Enjoy your rest and I look forward to your coming back online soon.

  3. Oh be still my heart, Dawn! I just saw your cards come up on my blogger sidebar and had to rush over to get a closer peek - these just took my breath away! Your coloring is truly a gift - He has graced you with a talent and so happy you are sharing it with us! The colors and the scenes you've created just take me right into "real life" - beautiful!! The first cards reminds me of my little son when we are at the beach :) My favorite way to enjoy the summer splendor is watching the children playing outside - jumping with glee through the sprinklers or splashing around in the pool ... there is something so pure and innocent in hearing their joy and laughter that just makes my heart melt every time :)

Thank you for sharing your card crafts with us! Blessings! xoxo

  4. Hi Dawn,
    The cards are very beautiful!
My favorite time out: with my daughter (zeven years old) preparing cards and drinking a cup of tea. It's so nice to see here making cards and creating her own style. I'm enjoying it! It's giving me spirit to go on!
    Have a nice vacation!

Like you my favorite place to unwind is at your cabin in Georgia. No phone, no internet, and just till last year we had no TV.. but do now, not that we watch it much.
I'll miss you on your vacation and will look forward to your return!
    Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Dawn, these cards are so peaceful and bring back great memories of playing on the beach with my children.
My favorite "time out from life" place is my childhood home. My mom still lives there and it is like stepping back in time. No cable tv, no internet, no air conditioner. A garden to tend, weeds in the grass, just back to simplicity. Ahhhhh.
I love the scripture verse. Thanks for sharing.

  7. My favorite 'time out from life' place is the bathroom in the middle of the night- no children, no noise, no distractions- just me, a book, candles, bubbles and a glass of wine and I can relax and forget about life for half an hour. Bliss!

  8. I love that Bible verse too. I have it hanging in my bedroom. My favorite time out place has to be my college sons bedroom. It's still set up just as he left it. I like to go in there and lay on his bed and look around...in a way it gives me peace. I miss him but being in his room for awhile makes me feel close to him.

  9. Both of your cards are amazing- the colors are so rich and vibrant. Would love to spend time learning your techniques. I tend to over blend rich colors.

Lets see about my fav place to unwind... lately I find it is my living room corner. I have an old rocker and pillows, and am surrounded with gentle gifts my children have bought me- A carved cross, beautiful bible, and a meditation gong- and lots of positive books of comfort.
That is my slice of heaven when I need to relax.

  10. Your cards are simply beautiful Dawn. I love the fun beachy card, but the sunset card is stunning!
We will miss your creations while you are gone...but recharging those batteries is the best thing in the world!
My favourite to unwind and feel at peace.....is the dock on the lake. There is nothing like listening to the waves hit the dock and the loons making there calls! I love the water and hopefully one day I will have my house by the lake. We live 5 minutes from the lake but I want to look out my window and see the lake!!!!! Enjoy yourself with your dad...you will come sooooo refreshed!

  11. Both are beautiful Dawn. It is always nice to create for fun. :)

  12. OMG Dawn ... your work just keeps getting better & better! These are AWESOME!
Enjoy your visit with 'Dad' and rest up while you're there ... you deserve a break I'm sure!!

My favorite place to vacation/ relax is right outside my kitchen door on our beautiful deck with hubby by my side. We've even sat out there on a REALLY HOT 90 degree day (a little breeze blowing) with a cool drink and listening to ragae music ... just envisioning we're back in St. Thomas or St. Martin ... aaawww!

okay ... back to reality! thanks for the inspiration & chance to win something awesome!! ENJOY MY FRIEND!!

  15. Your cards are sooo beautiful!!! I especially love the beach w/ the Flourishes stamps. I think the coloring IS perfect! Enjoy your break. I took a couple weeks off in July and it was incredible. It's my new favorite "time out from life". I spent time in St. Martin and St. Barts w/ husband and friends.

  16. Why do I feel like I am saying good-bye to a dear friend? I know too well the breaks we need from life, mine is not with my parents, it is away from them and all their stressors right now, though!!
Dawn, I love your scenes...I wish I could come and stamp with you and learn your techniques for color, the second one especially has such depth of color...but both are wonderful!!
Enjoy your quiet time away from responsiblities and your Dad.
My fave place to relax is on our deck at Steamboat...with the cool clear rippling brook right next to me!!

  17. Beautiful cards, I always enjoy seeing what you post and I hope you enjoy your time off and come back refreshed. My get away is on my back porch with a good book. Nothing like living vicariously thru someone else. Oh, and a big glass of iced tea to go with it!

  18. Two lovely cards, Dawn. Both very prettily rendered. I hope you enjoy your long break with your Dad. Treasure every moment.
Sadly my father is no longer with us - if I could really take time out of life, I would spend it with him but during his life he held the view that all our lives are a gift not to be squandered so as I can't spend time with him - I think I will opt for NOT taking time out and instead sieze my life, take control of it for myself and enjoy it whatever I am doing! Hugs, Lesley

  20. Such beautiful cards & such a perfect scripture verse. We all need to remember those words, not just in bad times but in good ones too. I will miss your postings but am glad you are able to get away to refresh your spirit. I haven't been able to check your post for a couple of weeks due to computer & health issues. Both are recovering. Enjoy your month away!

  21. I sense some heavy stuff mixed in with this post, and I hope all works out and you become rejuvenated and refreshed. And I hope the new memories you make while you are gone are ones that you will always cherish. Looking at these two remarkable cards, it is hard for me to believe that your mojo needs finding. Your work is always stellar, and always so wonderful to see. You always put such life into your images.

My favorite time out place is my very own bed. Each night as I am ready to put the day behind me, I snuggle up with my two furry beauties and feel safe and secure, and I so enjoy that lingering peace with them before sleep. It is something I look forward to each night.

Safe travels and a wonderful time making some awesome memories. Best, Curt

  22. The place I go when I need a time-out from life is in church. Why? well, aside from being a place of spiritual growth and refreshment, nobody expects me to have my phone ON, no less expecting me to answer it :)

  23. I will miss you! I visit my sister in Minnesota once a year. She is my only living sibling and both of our parents have passed. We have such great time together. She is the sweetest sister ever.

  24. That's exactly my time out kinda space - a book, a breeze, and no bothering me! I'm a stay at home kinda person and so that fits perfectly. Thanks for a chance at a yummy prize!!

  25. I'll miss your beautiful creations, Dawn, but can totally relate to needing to "get away"! For me, it would simply be not having to go to work where there are more than usual stressors right now...I'd be at home...sitting on my front porch swing or reading a good book...maybe even cleaning out a closet - lol! Enjoy your time with family! Hugs to you!

  26. One of my favs is definitely the beach. I love just laying in the sun with the breeze off the ocean keeping me from baking.

  27. Gorgeous cards, Dawn! Your first is fantastic, because I love to see my kids playing at the beach, but your next is so great because it makes me feel relaxed. I guess after all of your inspiration, the beach is the place I want to be :)

  29. Your cards are very creative! I enjoy visiting your blog and getting inspired by you. One of my favorite places to go to get away from it all is a weekend with the girls at our favorite scrapbook house in Temple, GA. The house has everything a scrapper and card maker would need as far as tools, a mini-store, a well stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. I love going there! I work on my projects all day long and sometimes all night long. No interuptions! I can work in my pajamas and even get a massage while I'm there. 3 days of bliss doing one of my favorite things. And of course I make sure to visit my favorite blogs to get inspired before I leave for the weekend.

  31. I love your cards, Dawn! And, your scripture.

My favorite place for 'time out' is Orange Beach, AL Been going there for many years and I love when the car heads that way. For me, 'time out' happiness is the ocean and beach. I sure hope to be going soon.

  32. Oh these are just beautiful! Have a wonderful time, you are so lucky! I would love to go visit my dad, he lives up in north GA in the mountains. That is my time out place. I love all the animals that visit, hogs, turkey, deer, and all the fabulous birds. :)

  33. Just love both your cards today. That little guy at the beach looks like he's having so much fun! My favorite time out is to sit down with a good book, the kind that you just can't put down. For a getaway, I just love going anywhere with my husband. We always have a great time discovering new places & checking out all the great restaurants. In fact, just returned from Sundara Spa in the Wisconsin Dells, for a 10 year anniversary relaxing vacation. We just love it there since you don't have to do a thing. Just sit by the pool, have a massage & enjoy your time together in the tranquility. Have a great time on your vacation!

  34. They are gorgeous cards Dawn, and I love the punch you have used on your 1st card, just perfect.

My time out place has to be the gorgeous beaches in Northumberland (which we go every year). As soon as I get on the beach, the noise of the waves and seagulls just the best.

Enjoy your break, hope you come back refreshed and recharged for more of your beautiful cards xx

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dawn, love your cards! The punched border along the top of the first one is just the perfect touch, and the colors and scene on the second card are so peaceful.

My favorite relaxation spot is the beautiful mountains of Tennessee with my husband - no Internet, no TV, and no phone. Could it get any better?!

You enjoy your R & R. I can't wait to see what you create after a bit of a break.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Your cards are lovely as always. I always get such inspiration from you. My favorite place to unwind is actually my craft area. For me, that's my hobby and when I'm down there (my space is in the basement) I can forget about everything else that is waiting to get taken care of. (I also love to take cruises with my husband, but you can't do that every time you need to unwind!)

  37. These are just fabulous..Gorgeous colors and shading on both of these.

  38. Adorable and beautiful, Dawn! Enjoy your time away and I hope you come back refreshed. We just spent a week in the mountains in Washington with no cell phone or internet, and it was great.

  39. Oh my golly...these are beautiful cards Dawn. Such detail in both of them. I love how you did your sand on the first and love the gorgeous color against the black on the second. Have fun...relaxing and enjoying your family. Hugs to you.
My favorite time out place from life...actually is my craft table. Hee. I actually love it when we visit my husband's family in CA in the summers. My MIL treats me like a queen. Even at 100 degrees plus she takes the time to make me home made tamales! Yum.

  40. Hey Dawn!! Your creations are just gorgeous hun!! I've always loved your work and designs!! I hope that you have a fantastic break my dear and get the time away you much deserve!! :)

I guess that a "break" and a true break away from everything for me is to just find a great spot where I know I will not be bothered weather it's outside during nice weather over looking some water or at a park. Or sometimes I find it very restful to soak in a warm tub and cover my face. I do enjoy "quiet time"...it gives me a chance to relax and deal with nothing! :)

Thanks for the chance and I hope you are able to find that "quiet time" to relax and reflect! HUGS

  41. I adore your Sand Castle card! Living in SW Florida it is a scene I see many times a week, and your card captures the bright spirit of the beach I love so well. Now as for where my favorite "time out from life place is"...well, believe it or not, it is in our SUV with my husband. Just spending time alone with him (with no distractions/interruptions for either of us...email, phones, tv, etc.)is wonderful. We tune the satellite radio to the 70's channel, sing along, and talk about whatever pops into our minds. Brings us both back to when we were footloose and fancy free teens. Such a wonderful escape from daily "adult" living.

  42. Both cards are beautiful as always! I hope you find some rest for your body & soul as well as making special memories w/your Dad. No deadlines! My special place is alone in our swimming pool even if it's for 30 minutes. Enjoy your vacation!

  47. Hey sweetie! Just got back from vacay! No idea if you're still around, but wanted to wish you a great time with your father in the "primitive land"! I'm sure you'll (re)live great experiences there. It's great to have a "no-computer" time now and then; that's what I call relaxation. If someone takes the child away too- that's boredom:))
Your cards are gorgeous, Dawn, your coloring always blows me away!
    You just enjoy your vacay!

Enjoy your time away and can't wait to see you back when you are all refreshed and rejuvenated. If I could, I would visit the beach, my favorite "time-away" place. I sure could use it right now! Take care.

  52. Dawn, these are both such beautiful cards...the colors are so vibrant and gorgeous! How exciting to be going home and chillin' for a whole month with your dad! I can't think of anything better. I miss mine terribly and would love the opportunity to do that too -- do it now while you can! I also love this verse. May you have wonderful times with your dad and just disconnecting with the internet. It's good! My favorite place is The Pink Shell in Fort Myers Beach, where we totally unplug ourselves and just enjoy the beauty of the sky, beach and water. We usually go in May for our birthaversary (DH's birthday and our anniversary), but I'm in desperate need for another, since we are in the midst of a major flooring project. So who knows...maybe we'll go back after this project is done. I'll miss your blog, but I am so glad you are taking a break. Big hugs to you...you are so precious! :D

  57. Oh My Goodness these are beautiful but I must say the second takes me home to Maui and I love the peaceful scene you have created. My favorite 'time out from life' place is up in the mountains. To smell the fresh air, to hear the trees rustle in the wind, the river cascading over rocks and birds singing in the trees it all refreshes my body and soul. I always feel closer to God in the mountains.
I am envious of you getting some time away with your Dad, I miss my parents dearly. I hope you have a wonderful time and make some special memories.

  60. I have that beach set and love the calming effect when I use it. You card is so pretty. I find peace when going for a walk along the creek where I live. Instead of the hussle and bussle you see other things. Maybe it is a cow with her calf, maybe it is a bambi and maybe it is a weed that looks just like it should be a flower.
    Thanks for sharing.

Have a safe and wonderful visit and cherish each minute.

I do hope you are enjoying your time with family!!! Treasure each moment and make lots of happy memeories! We leave tomorrow for "home" to us... Maine, where we will celebrate 40 years of marriage, and yes, sitting on the rocks listening to the waves roll in, watching the sea gulls and seals... I can unwind in moments there! God's plans for us have been good! Love your choice of verses today!

  68. Good morning my beautiful friend. Your work is a reflection of you, and that is lovely for sure.

My time out spot, which i don't go to near enough, is the lake that is within a mile of my house. I like to look out on the water and imagine what is on the other side. The motion of the water and the sound of nature all around is very calming. It's a time out from anything causing worry or stress. I think God gave us this beauty because he wanted us to rest in it. Thanks for the reminder.

    Blessings to you Dawn!

  72. Miss Dawn these are both so Wonderful! Love the sweet little boy and his sand castle and The Fabulous breezy beach life scene too, reminds me of my favorite get away place, ( also in Jamaica.. lol) But any place near the water will do it for me.. and if I am not able to get to a place near the water, then getting lost inside one of my Diana Gabaldon books in my own back yard will do nicely. 8-)

Enjoy your time with your family Miss Dawn!

  76. My favorite time out from life place is actually where I am right this moment. Upstairs in my craft room! No matter how crazy my life is at the moment or how stressed I am, once I come upstairs & get all my papers & stamps & punches out I soon forget everything but the card I am working on. My other favorite place, but one I can't go to as often is a visit with my daughter & her family. Enjoy your visit with yours! They are priceless!

  77. Your cards are wonderful- you have a great eye for color! My favorite place to time out brings me back to when I was a child- we grew up on a river and had a boat- I love to close my eyes and hear the sound of the water- is is very peaceful and calming to me. I love vacations to a beach or lake- and really enjoy boating when I have the opportunity. Thanks for the chance to win candy!

  79. I have a few favorite time-out spots. One is my craft room where I get lost in paper, ink and stamps. Other places are venues like Starbucks or Panera where I can bring my laptop and enjoy a cup of coffee and put on my head phones and concentrate on whatever I am working on. Another place is Copan, Honduras, a nice far gettaway place for me.

  80. Your cards are gorgeous (as always), Dawn! I hope you're enjoying your time off and making memories with your Dad. How special! My favorite time-out place is actually a place my Dad started taking our entire family 30 years ago....Edisto Beach, SC. It's the most non-commercial beach I know of and a perfect place to relax and enjoy family & life! Now I take my entire family there at least once a year to make our own memories!

  81. Both cards are gorgeous, Dawn.
One of my favorite "time out from life" places is my craft room. It is therapeutic and helps to relieve the stresses from the day!

    ReplyDelete
  82. That is my favorite Bible verse too, but I like to include the following verse: "So call to me and pray to me and I will listen to you, and you will find me when you seek with your whole heart" Hmmm. That's out of my head so it might not be totally perfect! I don't get to do it often, but the balcony on a cruise ship is a pretty peaceful place. I go there often in my mind, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  83. PLEASE get some needed crafting rest!! Your work is amazing and we all love it. Hope you have a wonderful visit.

My "place" is sunrise on the beach. There's nothing like it any time of the year, but fall brings such gorgeous colors to the sky. I, also, love to sit on our patio, gazing at a warm fire in the pit, and not saying a word...in the cooler time of year, of course.

  84. Two outstanding and beautiful cards, love the sentiment on the on the palm tree card. For me there are short time 'time outs' and planned 'time outs'. I try to plan a few weeks each year at a Ranch in Arizona where I ride with my daughter and leave the world behind....truly as you drive on to the property it is like going back in time. Then there are those moments in a day or week where you just need a little peace and reflective time.....that can be a long walk or peacefully sitting on the deck quietly enjoying nature. Grateful for each and everyday, blessed to be able to enjoy them as they come thanking God for them. BTW love the inspirational words at the top of you blog.

  85. Your cards are so beautiful, Dawn! Love your amazing coloring so much!
Hope you are enjoying your time off! :)
I like to spend time next to the water 9sea, river, ocean) - my favorite time of the day is in the evening. Time when you can hear the water, whisper of the waves...

  86. Hi Dawn,

I'm hoping that this next month gives you rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation that you need.

Often my get away spot tends to be my stamping/crafting table. There's nothing like an evening of "getting away" to think and create.

We also love to get away at our church camp. It's in Northern Ontario and the scenery is beautiful!! I even managed to piece a quilt top there this year.

    See you in September.

  88. Such beautiful card. My fav is the beach boy - I'm a mother of two boys and our favorite place to be in the summer is at the beach at our cottage. There is no better feeling of falling asleep after a day of playing on the beach!

  91. Love this card! Dozing in the hammock in your card scene would be a great relaxing place. ;P I do also love our RV- home can be anywhere we like at the moment- the beach, the mountains, the woods- and there are no normal life pressures so I can just have good escape time with my dh.

  92. Our most recent get away was for our anniversary last spring to one of our wonderful state parks. We stayed in a cabin but spent a lot of time in the lodge lounge area playing games, reading and just enjoying the weather (which was great for March). My husband liked it so much he said we are going to stay twice as long next time.

  93. Your beach card is absolutely stunning. And I have to be cliche' but isn't the beach with the waves rolling in, the breeze, the sandpipers and sand crabs skittering around is so relaxing, I have to say it is one of my favorite time out spots, although I know it is not original. Although being in NC with Hurricane Irene heading our way,I hope she isn't too "mean" too our beaches. Thanks for chance at great candy, two of my favorite stores, and thanks for all your wonderful creativity you share with us.

  94. Great cards Dawn, Love both beach scenes. Thanks for the chance for the great blog candy.
One of my favorite time out places is in the kitchen. I do enjoy baking as well and eating anything I bake.

  95. Hi Dawn! Hope you are safe and well and relaxing and getting back into a routine!! I miss you here...so will look forward to seeing you back! My favorite place to relax other than our cabin in Steamboat, is my own back deck with a view of the pond! I don't have to get in a car to get there, that's probably why! Hugs!!
