Remembering My Mom

Mom's Picture Frame

This Mother's Day I felt so blessed. I was able to spend the weekend with all 5 of my children (the first time in 5 years) and my 2 sisters and Dad.  It was a great family event.  My second oldest daughter graduated from University of IL with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and we all gathered to celebrate.  It just happened to be on Mother's Day weekend.

The one person missing was my mom.  She would have been so proud of my daughter and of all of her grandchildren.  She was the only one out of eight in her family that got a degree.  Her degree was in nursing.  We lost my mom when I was much younger but her memory lives on.

Over at The Kraft Journal the challenge this week is Remembering You.  I thought this picture frame was the perfect thing to hold my favorite picture of my mom.

I had a vintage picture of my mom and wanted to use some Kraft Outlet papers to cover the frame.  I chose the Vintage Dictionary  Paper to cover my frame with.  I used modge podge to apply the paper to the  frame and preserve the paper.   Then I used a die to create some roses out of the Kraft Outlet's Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock.   It is the perfect weight to create these flowers.

I gave each of my sisters this picture for Mother's Day.  It was a unique and heartwarming moment.

Now hop on over to The Kraft Journal and create a card or project with the Remembering You theme.

  14. The frame you did for your Mom's picture is perfect. She was a beautiful woman & most definitely passed her looks on to her daughter & granddaughter. I have no doubt that she not only knew about her granddaughter's graduation, but was there. You must be bursting your buttons with pride & rightly so! That is quite an accomplishment for your daughter & I'm so happy for you both.
