Sadie's Crockpot Applesauce and Blog Candy

It is time for another Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge.  This week the challenge is to use
"A Few of Your Favorite Things".
This was an easy one for me.  This Sadie's Apples from Mo's Digital Pencil is one of my favorite Mo images.  I used Copics to color her which are also my favorite coloring medium.  Then I added some heart buttons. Who doesn't like buttons.

Lastly, I turned it into a recipe card with one of my favorite recipes.  This is such an easy recipe and it tastes YUMMY.
8 yellow delicious apples cored, peeled and sliced.
5 tsp. light brown sugar
A cinnamon stick or a tsp of cinnamon (this is optional)

Add it all to a crockpot on low and cook 6-8 hours.  Your house will smell divine.  I stir mine and mash the apples as they get softer.  Then when they have cooked I add them to my blender and blend it to an applesauce consistency.  Please note that if you make this in your crockpot and it is white it will stain your pot.  Ask me how I know.  You can also cook this on low on your stove top too.

Then I add it to my canning jars and refrigerate. It must be refrigerated unless you are actually going to can it with a cooker which properly seals it.

Here is my recipe book I use.  It is a Lang binder. I just love it.

Thanks to my friend Christine Dol I had found this online at Langs.  She has created recipe cards on her blog also.

It has a 3 ring binder with sleeves on the inside.  Great for a 4 X 6 recipe card.

How would you like to win your very own recipe binder... Here is the binder I have for you and I am also giving away Mo's Digital Pencil $3 Gift Certificate so you can chose the image of your choice to create your very own recipe card.

  1. My new favorite recipe is Lemon Poppy Seed has a yummy, sugary, lemon topping that makes it a stand out special!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!

  2. I love yout sweet recipe card in it's pretty binder and the finished product looks scrummy too. Regrettably I don't actually cook so I would not be a worthy recipient of the binder - I just popped by to comment! Hugs, Lesley

  3. What a wonderful post you have done! I love your recipe cards Dawn. I love how you did the buttons and the copic colours are stunning that you used. Love your book. Thank-you so much for this wonderful recipe. I am definetly making this one, it is cold and damp here and this would be wonderful to have on a cold day!

  4. Dawn, your recipe cards look beautiful in that lovely recipe binder!! My favorite easy recipe is Peppermint Bark. Here are the easy directions:

I start by crushing 8 full-sized candy canes. My kids love doing this part! After they've unwrapped the candy canes and dropped them in a plastic bag, I hand them my heavy-duty ice cream scoop and let them go to town. While they crush, I melt a pound of vanilla candy wafers (I use Melting Wafers from Make 'n Mold) in the microwave. Once the wafers are smooth and melty, just stir in the crushed candy canes, then pour the mixture out onto a cookie sheet covered with waxed paper. After spreading out and smoothing the mixture with a spatula, just pop the tray in the fridge to chill for 20 minutes or so. When it's all set up, break the peppermint bark in to pieces, and that's it. Done! (Each recipe makes 20 ounces of candy.)

  5. Thanks for the chance to win this delicious recipe binder! Hmmm -- quick recipe.....Stuffed eggs. Boil 6 eggs; peel, then cut in half lengthwise. Scoop out yolks into a bowl and mash with a fork. Add 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 tsp. salt and a dash of pepper -- actually, I am heavy-handed on the pepper, probably more like 3 or 4 dashes! Mix together and put into whites. Sprinkle with paprika. I never bring any of these home when I take them to a get-together (I usually do 9 to 12 eggs instead of just 6).

  6. Ooooh - I bet the house DOES smell yummy while this is cooking! Fabulous recipe card, too, Dawn. If I should happen to be the lucky random winner of this gift, please try again so that someone who would make better use of it gets it. My favorite easy recipe is for my chocolate chip cookies. I have it committed to memory after making them for SO many years:) They never fail to get compliments.

  7. Oh, Dawn, I have enjoyed the visit so much, everything looks wonderful, thank you for the recept and the inspiration!
    hugs, Alina
