Flourishes Friday Focus with a Tutorial

It's time for another Release week challenge over at Flourishes.

TutFinish.

Die cut, punches edges or decorative borders, all are the rage in card making, so let's see how you can create a card that's a cut above the rest! To enter, simply use a die cut, decorative punch or border punch as a focal point on your card. Keyword: FLLCMAR11 - deadline is March 11th at 5 PM Eastern.

I have created a little tutorial for you today.
zfirst.

I wanted to do a short tutorial to show you how you can use your
First I took a 4.5 x 11 piece of cardstock and folded it in half. Place the top of the die just above the top of the fold. This will cut the card keeping it all in attached. Then I put it through my Spellbinders Grand Calliber to cut a piece that looked like this when opened.

zsecond.

Now you want to score one of the ovals in the middle and fold it towards the center of the card.  This will be your easel back.

z3.
Now you want to cut another Beaded Oval in your Grand Calibur.  Attach the bottom of your oval to the bottom of the folded oval.  This will be your card front.

z4.

Now it is time to add your image and your sentiment.  The sentiment is cut out using the Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennant die.  LOVE this die.

zpennant.

I then stamped out some violets and leaves.  I added these all to the bottom of my easel card with dimensions.  That way they catch your easel top.

ztop.

This lays flat to mail...

I watercolored the beautiful Flourishes Sweet Violets stamp for my easel card.
I used my Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities to cut out and add some Memorybox Minuet Designer paper for a bit of color.
To enter, simply use a die cut, decorative punch or border punch as a focal point on your card. Keyword: FLLCMAR11 - deadline is March 18th at 5 PM Eastern.

  11. Wowza, Dawn, you totally did that. . .you made an easel card from a Nestie, and I LOVE it! What a brilliant idea. If the craft fairy comes and brings you compressor, maybe she'll come and bring me a 'Grand Calibur' so I could get some big Nesties. . .I'm holding out hope that she exists ;)

  12. Beautiful, Dawn! Now I'm really itching for some nestie's for my machine. Just too afraid to hit the buy button....don't want to buy something I end up not using much. I put them in my shopping cart and then back out again. I just need to press the buy button and get it over with. I keep hinting to my kids that I want craft supplies but they can't seem to catch the hint...I keep getting stuff to decorate my house! LOL....

Lovely card and thank you so much for the tutorial! I am going to buy this die so I can make this card for my friends birthday next month.
