This last week my son was really sick with the flu and
he wanted me to sit with him. I love it when that happens. :) While I sat there I started thinking I need to watercolor an image. I have not done that in awhile. This is the newly released set from Flourishes. I just love the Hyacinth image. These are the most fragrant flowers. My daughter had them in her hair one year for prom. They were dipped in wax and oh my..
This second card was also watercolored. I love the soft feel of this stamp. My dad gave me the best birthday present ever. All I asked for was for him to sit down and WRITE out his favorite memories. It was 9 pages long and so special. We have lost the art of handwriting anymore. Here in North Carolina they don't even teach cursive writing at my son's school. I will treasure my handwritten letter forever.
The crocheted heart is from my sweet design team friend Stacy.
This is the second set released from Flourishes called From The Desk Of.
You can find both sets HERE and don't forget about the New Release Bundle -- where you can get both sets bundled together at 10% off!
The Flourishes DT is back with another creation showcasing these sets today:

Gorgeous cards, Dawn! Your watercoloring is fantastic! What a treasure from your Dad! Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove your watercoloring. That is such a wonderful idea to write down memories by hand. Somehow it means so much more than typing them.
ReplyDeleteDawn these are gorgeous..xx
ReplyDeleteYou're on a roll with these. The watercolour gives it such a soft effect.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous papers and I love all the lace and crocheted accents!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Dawn...they are both gorgeous! And I love your coloring...so good!! I agree about losing the art of writing. So I've got to get these sets! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThese are both SO beautiful, Dawn! I hope your son is all better now. And what a special gift from your dad - awesome! They don't even teach cursive??? I've heard of that being a consideration, but I didn't realize there were places that were not teaching it. Do they at least learn to sign their names???
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Dawn. These are simply stunning. How sweet of Stacy to send you some 'love'. I sure hope your little man is feeling better. It always breaks my heart when mine don't feel well. . .I do anything to take it from them. Have a great weekend, Dawn :D
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to mention what a great idea that was to have your dad write down a favorite memory. I would ask my dad, but he'd probably just say it was when we graduated and left, haha ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you son is feeling better. Your gift from Dad will always be something you'll treasure and can NOT be replaced by a million dollars!!
ReplyDeleteI, too, love to watercolor and haven't for a long time. You've got me wanting to pull them out again. Your work is beautiful...great job!

ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous cards Dawn,
ReplyDeleteLove Hyacinth flowers.
In the spring time my garden is full with them, they smell so lovely!
Love your request from your dad! What a priceless treasure to have. Going to have to ask my mom to do the same.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are gorgeous. I love the looks of hyacinths, but their smell is too overpowering for my sensitive nose :( Fabulous colouring on both images and lovely use of DPs. Enjoy your DRY, indoor games for me ;)
Both of these are such spring filled creations Dawn. Your coloring seems to just be perfect each creations, beautiful work as always. Sounds like your dad knew just what to give you on your birthday! Glad you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteDawn, your watercoloring is simply Fantastic!! I love both cards very much!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by the lost art of writing. No one sends out Christmas cards anymore. When I started 10 years ago (starting the first Christmas after I married) I sent out cards, and every year after that, it's dwindled down to just 8-10 cards I'll receive. It's sad. I love making cards and giving them as gifts, that's my way of keeping it alive :)
Oh I love the story of your Dad writing his story for you Dawn! This is the perfect card then!
ReplyDeleteBoth so gorgeous. I love your watercoloring!
What a fantastic idea,to have your dad write down all his favourite memories! Wonderful! What an absolute keepsake that is!
ReplyDeleteDawn...your cards are a delight I tell ya! LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
These are beautiful Dawn. I sure love your water coloring skills. :)
ReplyDeleteNow that I think if it, my son barely knows cursive. They barely touched on it. I guess this is the computer age. They just need to know how to type. Which they were teaching in 1st grade.
These are two to make me gasp! Almost too much beauty in one place. I love how you added the inkwell to the From the Desk Of card. Beautiful watercoloring on these amazing images. Your gift from your father sounds like the best ever. How I wish I had something like that from my Mom and Dad who are both deceased. I do still have a letter my Mom once wrote me, and I have a song my Dad wrote. They are both very special to me.
ReplyDeleteThese are both totally gorgeous cards Dawn. Have to say I just love the first one, think its because its a bit more vibrant. Hope your son is now well!

Both card are absolute beauties. I love the way you tell a story with your cards.
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful, Dawn. The card for your father couldn't be more perfect. What a wonderful gift from your father. When I was in college my mom wrote me a letter. The whole thing was telling me why she loved me. Oh my... that has been the most cherished letter ever.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous artwork Dawn! Love em both! It is a shame we don't write letters anymore. You have such a priceless keepsake from your Dad!
