Blog Candy Winner

Penny Black
I got a head start on making my thank you note for this year's Christmas gifts.  This adorable image is from Penny Black. I ordered it from PB Stamps.  He has the best prices and great customer service and his shipping is very reasonable.  This set is called Kindness.

I really enjoyed this blog candy.  It was fun to read what special memories you all have of Christmas gone by.  It seems like most of the special gifts came from the heart and not from the store.  I think those are ones that make a holiday memorable.  I wanted to share with you my favorite Christmas gift.  At the time it didn't mean nearly as much as it does now.
I am the oldest of 8 children.  When I was 13 we adopted a family of 4.  My mom made us each a stocking for Christmas one year.  You can see them hanging here from the mantle.  She must have spent hours working on these.  She loved homemade gifts.  This picture is of the first grandkids taken about 19 years ago.  I miss my mom so much this time of year.  The two little girls on the right are my oldest daughters.

Fast forward to this year.  Here is a picture of the girls and our son.  He is so spoiled.

My son never got to meet his grandma but I still have that special stocking. It hangs from my mantle to remind me of all the great memories we made over the years.

Now on to the blog candy winner....

One of the best gifts my dh & I have given was a donation in honor of family members to a local medical clinic that offers care to those who cannot afford to pay. That's what Christmas is all about.

Blessed With Kindness

Kindness planted in the soil,
of another with a need...
Will one day blossom back to you,
a product of this spirit seed.   Kate Buxbaum-Prado.

Hey all my friends out there in cyber land.. I just wanted to check in and post a quick entry to show you how blessed I am in my life.   The following are not the best pictures but I am long over due in thanking so many during my recovery.  Look at all of the goodies I have received.

This beautiful blanket was hand knit by my friend Peggy.. It is gorgeous.  She has been a rock during this long road..I love the colors and the pattern is beautiful.  Thank you so much Peggy..

This sweet little angel, books, and cd came from my friend Cheryl.. I have read the books each night and the angel sits by my bed..:)  The music is my favorite as it has many of the same songs we sing at church.. I can't wait to get back to church..Thank you so much Cheryl..

I was blessed also with so much happy mail.  Not only did it make me happy it made my son happy too. He was in charge of opening each envelope and he did it with such care..There are 40 cards here..

This next project is probably one of the most touching things.. It is a card shower called the road to recovery. Cindy Motherway organized this.. She hosts the Teapot Tuesday challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  The teapotters got together and created all these beautiful cards.  Each and every card has a flower...(My Splitcoaststamper's screen name is flowergal36)  They wrote a personal message on the back of each of their creations.

There are 57 different cards on the ring.. Is this incredible or what.. I think I need some lessons from all these floral stampers.. This is an amazing act of kindness from so many different stampers.  A huge thank you goes out to Cindy for organizing all of this.. She is the best.

This gift came in a box full of other goodies.. I am in awe of this ladies talent.. My friend Michelle's mom created this gorgeous table runner for me.  It is reversible.. One side is Christmas the other side is snowmen.. It is all so perfectly stitched..  They have blessed and enriched my life in so many ways..
Lastly, I would love to thank all those that sent flowers.. I wish I had felt well enough to photograph them.  I appreciate my Flourishes Design Team for all their support, cards and flowers too.
Thank you to all of you that called me, emailed me, and surrounded me with prayer.  I think the prayers are what guided me safely through this time.  I am so blessed to have all of you in my life and I know that it made such a huge difference in this recovery.. I am so happy to report that my test results came back as cancer free and I just have to be watched very carefully.. Thank you SO MUCH... I have so much to be thankful for this holiday season.

Flourishes Friday

It's Friday already.  The time has gone fast this month.. It always does in December.
This Friday is a free day and we can create whatever we like.  I chose the newly
released set Butterflies and Blossoms.  Image was stamped on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and  colored with Copics.  I also used the beautiful
Analee Paper for the panels.
Blossoms & Blooms

I colored my butterfly with..The Gerber Daisy Copics Collection twice and cut it out and popped it up.  Addedthe May Arts Crocheted Ribbon Flourishes has in the store.

Then I switched gears to a winter card.

I used the set that was released in November called Vintage Postcard.  I wanted
to try to create a sunset behind the church.  Love this stamp set. I added some Nail Heads for my embellishments. This card is in the mail to my friend Kris who has surgery next week.  Hope it will cheer her up...I made it for Mothermark's teapot challenge.. A blank canvas.  Create a card with a scene..

That's it from me.  Here is what the rest of the Design Team has for you:

Hero Arts Kris Kringle

Back in November I had seen this beautiful Hero Arts Digital Hybrid image over at
Two Peas in a Bucket.  It was only 99 cents..  I had been wanting some type of image
that was universal to send to a friend across the pond.. I thought this would be perfect.
There is a monthly challenge over at Hero Arts Blog.. This months color challenge is to use
Kraft, Cranberry, Slate Blue, Pine White.  Check out the challenge HERE. I used Card Pattern Sketch #93 just left off the scallop because my image was large.

Thank you all for your prayers and support.. I am still slowly recovering.

January Calendar

Last year Flourishes released some really beautiful calendar stamp sets and a calendar template for each month.  The 2011 calendar template is now available for free again this year. Just head over and add it to your cart and you will get  a message to download. Here is a tutorial Julie has created:  CALENDARS

I used January for a CD calendar page.  I have a friend with a birthday coming up and I thought she might like a CD calendar.  Just take the CD folder apart and put it back together backwards so it stands and does not close.

I chose the beautiful Sweet Peas set.. I thought it went well with the colors in this month's calendar template.  The colors match just not in this photo..  I resized the template in Photoshop Elements and then took off the lines that were on the side.  Colored my image with Copics.

See what the rest of the Design Team came up with:
