Standing right beside us
we forget that you are there
when trouble comes to find us
we turn to you with prayer

Without a hesitation
you step into the fight
standing right before us
to protect us day and night.

You leave your home and family
knowing where you are bound
with courage, strength and valor
you stand a piece of ground

Security, peace and freedom
are the gifts that you supply
the soldiers of America

Flourishes Friday Focus

Strawberries22
This week's Friday Focus over at Flourishes is brought to you by Danielle..
She has challenged us to "Kick off Summer"...

Last week I saw Maki use this Easter Basket set with flowers in it..
What says summer more than these sweet ripe strawberries.
Colored with copics from the Flourishes Collection sets.
I added the awesome lace from the Flourishes Ribbon
Collection (Ivory Crocheted). I cut out and weaved the
bottom of the card to make it look like my basket.
Be sure to head on over to the Flourishes Blog to see what Danielle cooked
up for her Celebrating Summer Flourishes Focus and...

Check out what the rest of the team has in store this week:

I am also adding this to the Stamping Sister's In Christ Challenge this week.
Peggysue is hosting this week. I always love her insight.. She challenged
everyone to make a card with distressing.  She chose this scripture:
Isaiah 64:6, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our
righteousness as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
Tomorrow starts the Operation Write Home Blog hop.. Please stop by.. I
have some blog candy to give away..

Also... June 1st is the last day to enter to win my quilted bag, stamps, and
other goodies..  I will pick a winner using random generator that night.

Flourishes Friday Focus

Flourishes SCS

This week's Friday Focus over at Flourishes was a challenge from Laura..
We all wanted you to see how beautiful this new set called Beauty Within can be used.
It coordinates with the Spellbinder dies but I chose to use mine without.

This week Beate had shown a tutorial over on the Flourishes Newsletter and I just loved the spotlighting she did.  I thought I would use it here on this set.  The heart is perfect for the sentiment.

I used the small rose stamp that comes in this set on the inside and then also behind my main panel.   This beautiful ribbon is also from Flourishes May Arts Checked Ribbon.

Check out what the rest of the team did  with this awesome set:
The gallery over at Flourishes is full of awesome samples.. Check it out HERE too.
I have entered this also over at Splitcoaststampers for today's challenge which
is ribbon and bows and last week's challenge on Friday which was spotlighting.

This is another amazing new set being released this week at Flourishes.
This set is called Cherry Blossoms.
I love the cherry blossoms and sentiments in this set.  It is so pretty.
I colored my blossoms with the Flourishes Copic set Sweet Pea.
Made a button out of the gingham out of the fabric I used for my ribbon.

      Flourishes Pre-Release Challenge

      Flourishes Manly Challenge

Manly Man Cards. As we get ready to honor the fathers in our lives,
let's challenge each other to think outside the box when it comes to
"man cards" .  I chose the Beach Life set from Flourishes to create my
card.. It took me forever to figure out which set to use. Then I thought
maybe I could make a Wish You Were Here card for my dad.
I used the palm tree tops for the bottom of the shirt. I created
my own pattern for the sleeves and the collar.  Sponged on all
the ink for the sky and sunset.  Then added some buttons.

While the winner  of this challenge will be drawn at random,
a second winner will be chosen  based on just how creative they got with
the entry. Can flowers be  masculine? Can an image be used in a way that
wasn't intended? Show us what you've got! You could walk away with
all four stamps in Flourishes' May release! You have until Friday,
May 14th at 5 PM EST to enter for your  chance to win. Use Flourishes
stamps if you have them but if you don't,  please play along anyway. If you
upload to SCS, please use the keyword  FLLCMAY10. Keep in mind, in
order to be eligible, you need to link your  creation HERE in this post
      using the inlinkz linky.
Good luck! We can't wait  to see your manly man cards/creations!

Check out the rest of the Design Team creations:

      Pretty Pink Girl

"It's not what you are that holds you back,
it's what you think you are not."
      { Denis Watley }

      TiddlyInks2
My youngest daughter has a special relationship with my husband.
He has been a great step dad.. When she was little she always dared
to be different.  Pink was her color of choice and she wore anything
that was fashionable.  Including his shirts and ties.  As she became older
the kids started making fun of her individuality and it seemed to cast a
shadow of doubt upon her.  I wish that we all had the power
to be who we want to be......

Now mind you I think I see a bit of it returning.. Bet you can't guess which
one of these gals is her.. (in her defense she still likes the
color pink just not when it is in the eyes)  Poor kid has had pink eye
for a week.  She has found some pink and aqua sunglasses though...LOL

Last night as I was be-blogging around I came upon Tiddly Ink's
store.. I LOVE her images.  They are so adorable.  Crocheted
flower is from my sweet friend Sabrina..

      Don't forget my blog candy...HERE

I found a few challenges that this fits....
Raise The Bar:  I used the colors of my daughter's bedroom and the bedspread is black and white
Just Us Girls Sketch:  I used a square instead of a circle.. But kept the layout the same.
