Standing right beside us
we forget that you are there
when trouble comes to find us
we turn to you with prayer
Without a hesitation
you step into the fight
standing right before us
to protect us day and night.
You leave your home and family
knowing where you are bound
with courage, strength and valor
you stand a piece of ground
Security, peace and freedom
are the gifts that you supply
the soldiers of America
on you we can rely.

Huge thank you to my daughter for creating these earrings. This sentiment
is from the Flourishes set called Cherry Blossoms.
The image on the first card was created with Mo's Digital Pencil and is
called Time Out To Support The Troops.
This is a very special digi stamp set. Mo created
it from a picture of my friend Peggy's son.

For those of you that would like to make cards for OWH two very

ReplyDeleteGorgeous candy dawn, and your card is beautiful. I'm glad to say that I don't have anyone I know fighting. I just can't imagine what families go through. I get upset just watching the funerals on the news channels.
ReplyDeleteDawn, OMGosh, girl this card of yours is so awesome!!! You know already that I am always at awe about your coloring skills...stunning!!! I think this is such an awesome thing to do for the troops all over the world...my DH was in the US Air Force for 26 years and I am a little sad that he retired 2 years ago, but you know that the fear of him having to go to war was taken away from me and for that I am thankful. While in the military he had to go down there into the desert for 6 months and it was no fun. I know how it is to be a military wife and I salute all of the spouses and children out there that are going through it now. Some might think that it is not hard, but you know it is for those that have to be strong and stay behind...my DH always told me that I was his rock while he was in the desert. They feel helpless down there and are without so many of the essentials that we take for granted. All of our troops, and it does not matter which branch it is, they are always giving their BEST and so are the families that stay behind. Sorry, I did not mean to ramble like this...it is just near and dear to me and I truly salute this effort of making those amazing handmade cards..they mean so much more that one of the limited selection store bought ones that are available for the troops if any. Thank you for being part of this mission!! Oh, I almost forgot to comment o this wonderful bag and earrings and tissue holder...so amazing...love it!!Hugs and blessings, Sabrina

My oldest daughter's on and off again S/O is a soldier who has served 3 tours--2 in Iraq and 1 in Afganistan, and he has a lot of "baggage" sadly due to losing many friends over there including his best friend, and BIL. I am sure he can use your prayers. The last I spoke to him, they were thinking about sending him to Korea (he was stateside as a recruiter) his name is Kane Poe.
Thank you very much.

Your gift set is just amazing and so generous... and I love the sentiment! Thanks for helping to support this worthy cause! As the wife of a war vet and a DFIL who won a purple heart for being wounded while saving the lives of some of his men... it's near and dear to me too! The one who goes and the ones left behind all are making sacrifices for us all every day! Love the poem and would love to know the author!

What a sweet card creation! Loved the poem! My husband is a vietnam veteran and says he wished there had been an OWH program when he was overseas. Thanks for supporting our fellow patriots, and have a great Memorial Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteDawn.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely amazing!!! I got teary eyed just reading the poem. We know a lot of people in the military, since we live close to the base...and have lost many as well. The man that comes to mind, will be my sisters soon to be husband: Tyson. They will be married on 6/19...but he can be called out at anytime...and that scares here a lot and all of the family too.
Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers...Many forget that they are still there, fighting what seems to be a silent war.
Hugs,
Calypso

ReplyDeleteHi Dawn Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI am Country Wings your newest follower. I can't wait to see what you share next. I love your blog home.
Your card with the little children saluting so tugs at my heart. I love seeing designs that have children incorporated. They are so adorable, and your colors are so vivid. I love that you left one shoe untied on each of the children, so common for children, and the little heart and star on each shirt is precious. Love the truck and the little tea set, how detailed you are. This creation of yours will be so appreciated by one soldier when they reach in the box of love.
I have never made a card, but this blog hop has so inspired me. I have been looking for something that I could do for the soldiers and what a wonderful gift of love. Each card will touch many lives. How wonderful.
I have been shut in for a month now and have at least 2 more weeks before the Dr.s will allow me outside. I am having complications with my lungs and chronic asthma. I have been wanting a craft to do that I could work on from my recliner. I believe I have found it. I am going to search the house today for items that I may have that I could make a few cards to send. I am so excited. Thank you for your inspiration today. Your cards are just exquisite.
Thank you for the opportunity to win some eye candy goodness. Any one of us would be so lucky to win. Love the purse with the bamboo handles, Dawn you are so creative.
Please stop by and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well. I love meeting new friends and learning new crafts from others.
